"The Signs of Music," Poetry by Fairley Lloyd

The music of music delights all:

young, old, deceased, in afterlife

Here, under moonlight, I hear

birds’ exquisite disposition

of love and hate and sorrow

a blended storm of emotions

Music dances into our souls

the way the heart beats blood

to the body, a steady rhythm

or turbulent crescendo

It breathes in and out,

melodies rise and fall and

flood around your ears like

water, but not drowning

This is the truth of all truths:

I am the music
